Yates Center splits quad

Three Rivers League rivals Yates Center, Marmaton Valley and Chetopa battled it out alongside Eureka Tri-Valley League during Wednesday's quad at Yates Center High School.

Tuesday seemed a Three Rivers League volleyball battle royal as Yates Center, Marmaton Valley, Chetopa and Eureka all competed.

Hot off of taking third at the Uniontown Invitational over the weekend, the Yates Center Wildcats kept their momentum, taking two of three matches. The Wildcats added a pair of wins by sweeping Marmaton Valley 25-11, 25-17 and Chetopa 25-10, 25-8.

The Eureka Tornadoes stalled Yates Center’s momentum, winning two of three sets, 25-10, 25-23 and 25-11.

The Yates Center Wildcats improved 9-4 on the season. They return to the hardwood Monday to host a triangular against Hartford and the Kansas School for the Blind.

Marmaton Valley’s record fell to 3-6 following Tuesday’s action. The  Wildcats picked up a TRL win after defeating Chetopa 25-12 and 25-14 after starting the game with a 27-25 loss in extra sets. 

Against Eureka, MVHS fell 25-11 and 25-15. 

Marmarton Valley returns to the hardwood Monday for a triangular at Marais Des Cygnes Valley. 

First serve is set for 5 p.m.
