The Yates Center Wildcats face an uphill battle to get back into the Three Rivers League hunt after falling to Uniontown 37-25 Tuesday night.

With Pleasanton coming to town Friday, the Wildcats will quickly put Tuesday’s loss in their rear view after fizzling in the fourth quarter of the TRL contest.

Senior guard Kinley Norrison got Yates Center rolling early with seven of the Wildcats’ 11 points in the first quarter, but Yates Center’s momentum came to a sudden halt in the second and third quarters as Uniontown took control.

Yates Center’s next 14 points were courtesy of Morrison, junior guard Cayten Cummings and emerging talents   Khloey Deeder-Kirkpatrick, a sophomore guard, and Aubrey Chambers, a senior guard, posting a bucket each.

With the loss, Yates Center fell to 7-9 overall and even their TRL record to 4-4. They look to get back above .500 in the TRL Friday, team-leading 15 points, followed by senior forward Kinley Edgerton’s 14 point contribution, then 12 points from junior guard Jaycee Schmidt, who hit the Lady Lancers’ only first half 3-pointer.

Crest seemed unstoppable in the paint.

The Lady Lancers had 18 field goals in the first quarter alone, 21 total.

With the win, Crest improved to 14-3 and 9-1 in the Three Rivers League for third place.

They step away from TRL action Thursday for an away game against Madison.  The final score was not available at press time.

The Lancers host Southern Coffey County (1-13, 1-10) Friday, who comes into the contest a bit more confident after defeating Chetopa 37-29 Friday. Tip-off is at 6 p.m.
