HOWARD — Dalton Brittan and Gavin Dillow pitched as well as they have all season on Wednesday, but the Wildcats couldn’t quite overcome West Elk’s pitching as their season ended with a 2-0 loss in the regional playoffs.

Brittan started the game and pitched the first four innings for Yates Center. He threw 75 pitches and struck out six batters while allowing only five hits and no earned runs.

The defense behind Brittan gave him no favors. They committed three errors behind him that resulted in two unearned runs.

Trailing 0-2, Yates Center brought in Gavin Dillow in the fifth inning. Dillow was even more dominant than Brittan. He threw two shutout innings and struck out three batters while allowing only one hit.

The offense managed only  three hits, en route to being shutout. Ryan Moffet, Logan Tidd and Brittan recorded the hits for the Wildcats.
