TIPTON — Yates Center High’s Nick Schemper rebounded nicely after a rough start to pick up a top 20 finish at the State Sand Greens Golf Tournament Monday.
Schemper’s 83 tied him for 17th at the Tipton Oaks Golf Course.
“Nick was pretty tight the first nine,” Wildcat golf coach Kevin Barnes said.
Schemper shot a 10-over-par 45 in the opening nine holes.
“But the second nine, he got settled down,” Barnes said, shooting 3-over 38.
Devon Freeman of Rock Hills won the individual tournament with a 4-under-par 66. Rock Hills also won the team title with a 293.
