EMPORIA — Southern Coffey County High’s Hunter Pankey was a three-time gold medalist Monday at the Lyon County League Freshman-Sophomore Meet.

The meet was hosted by Emporia State University and precedes the Lyon County League meet Thursday for all high school athletes.

Pankey emerged victorious in the 100-meter dash, running in 11.68 seconds, the 200-meter dash, finishing in 24.0 seconds, and in the long jump, with a distance of 19 feet, 8 inches.

Meanwhile, SCC’s Ross Gilbert took fourth in the triple jump, with a distance of 31’6”, and sixth in the long jump at 15’3 1/4”.

The SCC boys 4×400-meter relay team took fifth with a time of 4 minutes, 16.9 seconds.

For the Lady Titans, Kalyn Deal took third in the triple jump at 27 feet, while Carolyn Vanderman finished fourth in the javelin at 81’7”. The SCC girls 4×100-meter relay team finished fifth at 62.1 seconds.

The SCC boys team took eighth place with 37 points, while the SCC girls finished sixth with 14.

Olpe’s girls and boys won both team competitions, with 180 and 146 points, respectively.
