7 — The site for Gas City’s new school will be selected Friday night during a special meeting of taxpayers. Last year, a $92,500 bond issue was approved to finance the structure. State regulations require that a school site must contain at least five acres.

Iolans appreciate good streets and are willing to pay for them; they want stricter enforcement of driving laws; they want their town to grow and attract new industries. These are broad generalizations which may be drawn from the first analysis of the 620 replies the Planning Commission received to the questionnaire sent to about 2,400 families a few weeks ago. Howard Gilpin, acting chairman of the commission, said the board is delighted with the large response and the care taken in answering the 34 questions. As soon as possible, the answers will be tabulated according to age groups and geographical areas. 

12 — The Rev. Don Kindheart, pastor of Madison Avenue Baptist Church, will give the commencement address Thursday evening at Memorial Hall for the 34 boys and girls who will graduate from 15 of the county’s rural schools. Mrs. Una Todd, county superintendent, will be in charge of the program.
