Local churches will mark Lent with a series of breakfasts hosted by the Iola Area Ministerial Association.
The first is at 7 a.m. Feb. 18, Ash Wednesday, at Iola’s First Presbyterian Church.
The breakfasts are open to anyone, regardless of faith.
The meals will be followed by a short program based on the Lenten Easter season.
Free-will donations are accepted to fund the IAMA’s general fund, which primarily goes to offer short-term emergency housing to locals or transients.
Subsequent Lenten breakfasts will be held Feb. 25 at First Christian Church; March 4 at St. John’s Catholic Church; March 11 at Wesley United Methodist Church; March 18 at Calvary United Methodist Church; March 25 at First Presbyterian; and April 1 at First Christian.
