Legacy Five, which has developed quite a legacy with local gospel music fans, will return Saturday to the Bowlus Fine Arts Center.
Saturday’s 6 p.m. concert, part of Iola’s Southeast Kansas Christian Artist Series, marks at least the fourth time the quintet has performed in Iola, SEKCAS member Dee Singer said.
“They’re just great people and great performers,” Singer said. “We love having them here.”
Legacy Five’s genesis dates back to 2000 — even farther, if you consider Scott Fowler’s role with the legendary Cathedrals Quartet.
Fowler had been a Cathedrals member for about nine years before that group disbanded in 1999. Then, Fowler and the late Roger Bennett, also a Cathedrals member, got together and founded Legacy Five a few months later.
Fowler serves as manager and lead singer. He’s joined on-stage by fellow charter members Glenn Dustin, who sings bass, and Scott Howard singing baritone, as well as Trey Ivey, pianist, and Gus Caches, tenor.
Since its start, Legacy Five has garnered acclaim across the country for rich harmony and messages of spiritual growth. The group performs about 130 times a year in the United States and Canada, according to its website.
Singer encouraged fans to call ahead to ensure tickets are available for Saturday’s show, “and it’s better to call sooner rather than later, especially if you want orchestra seating.”
Advance tickets are $15 for
orchestra seats or $12 for those in the balcony. Tickets at the door are $18 and !5, respectively. Student tickets in the balcony are available for $6 apiece.
Advance tickets can be ordered by calling 365-7496.
