Iola Elks Lodge members will take a look at the past and the future Saturday.
Members of the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks Lodge No. 569 will host a number of activities to celebrate the lodge’s 125th anniversary.
Following a private lunch for Elks members and their guests, the fun kicks off at 1 p.m. at 202 S. Jefferson Ave. with the opening ceremonies.
At 2 o’clock, a 25-year-old time capsule will be opened to catch a glimpse of what life was like in the Lodge in 2000.
The UnChosen, a music group featuring performers from Iola and Chanute, will perform starting at 4 o’clock.
A meatloaf dinner, available for $12 a plate, starts at 5:30, followed immediately with music served up by DJ Milton “M.C.” Ivy.
The Iola Elks Lodge was organized on April 7, 1900, and received its charter July 12 of the same year.
The organization hosts a number of activities throughout the year to benefit the community, from distributing food baskets and purchasing gifts for children at Christmas, promoting drug awareness and hosting other events for youth, including the annual Hoops Shoot contests.
