Iola police officers are investigating an alleged battery involving a student and teacher at Lincoln Elementary School.
The incident reportedly occurred Wednesday, according to IPD reports.
The instructor, whose name has not been released, was placed Monday on administrative leave while the investigation takes place.
Jack Koehn, USD 257 superintendent of schools, declined to comment.
