Mary Patricia “Pat” Woods, 86, of Humboldt died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, at Chanute HealthCare.
She was born April 23, 1925, in St. Paul, to James Roland and Eva Gertrude (Lynch) Phelan. She grew up in St. Paul where she attended St. Francis Catholic School.
On May 26, 1946, she married Clyde V. Woods in Emmett, Idaho. They made their home in Emmett until 1949 when they moved to St. Paul. In 1953, the family moved to Humboldt from Chanute.
She was a homemaker and member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and Altar Society in Humboldt. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, cooking, baking and taking walks.
She is survived by her husband; six children, James and his wife, DeAnna, Humboldt, Clyde V. Jr., Mitchell, Neb., Gail Johnson, Independence, Kathy Butler and her husband, Steven, Jan Baker and her husband, Roger, and Daniel and his wife, Lori, all of Humboldt; 18 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three children, Jean Johnson, Donald and David Woods, a granddaughter, Tiffany Michelle Woods, four brothers, James R. “Jim” Phelan, Robert Phelan, John Phelan and Theodore “Ted” Phelan, and a sister, Phyllis Phelan.
Cremation has taken place.
Parish Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Humboldt. Visitation will follow in Parish Hall.
Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Humboldt. The Rev. Bernard Gorges will be celebrant.
Memorials may be given to St. Patrick’s Catholic School or Positive Directions which is a food pantry, non-profit agency that helps people with terminal illness.
