Catherine Elaine “Kay” O’Mara, 63, of Iola died Friday, Dec. 16, 2011, at her home.
She was born Aug. 27, 1948, in Independence, Mo., to Charles William and Patricia AnnRita (O’Donnell) Ulery Sr. The family moved to Iola and she attended Iola schools.
On July 3, 1965, she married John O’Mara. They made their home in Iola. Over the years she worked for I.G.A. Grocery in the bakery department, Robert V. Talkington Law Firm and Columbia Metal.
She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Iola. She enjoyed sewing, doing needlepoint and square dancing.
She is survived by her husband; a son, John Jr., Humboldt; three daughters, Karen Kimball and her husband, Gary, Iola, Katie Melton, Pretty Prairie, and Terri Lewis and her husband, Jason, Strong City; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Michael “Mike,” and a brother, Charles “Chuck” Ulery Jr.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel in Iola.
Parish Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John’s Catholic Church in Iola, followed by the celebration of a Mass at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Robert B. Wachter will be celebrant. Burial will be in Colony Cemetery.
