BEAVER DAM, Ky. — Richard Lee Barnum, 73, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017, at Ohio County Hospital in Hartford, Ky. He was born June 9, 1944, in Louisiana, Mo., the son of the late Richard Clifford and Marie Hancox Barnum.
Richard graduated from Louisiana Missouri High School where he played football. He served in the U.S. Navy as a medic. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, an avid member of the Savonburg community and worked for the Kansas City Star, where he received the Raising Star Reward.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Ann Barnum, daughter Leah Barnum, infant grandson Hunter Henderson and brother William (Bill) Barnum.
Survivors include his son, Richard Lee Barnum II (Nora Lewis), daughter Yvette Edgington (David), grandchildren Cody Wilson, Riley Barnum, Zackery Edgington, Tabitha Ford and Ranger Henderson; stepgrandchildren Brandon Gonzales, Alyssa Lewis, Sean Lewis and Elizabeth Lewis; sister Kathy Correll (John); several nieces and nephews, companion Nancy Brown and granddaughter Mary Brown.
