Warren M. Johnson, 88, of Iola died Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at Windsor Place Nursing Center in Iola.
Warren was born July 4, 1923, in Saunders County, Neb., the son of Swan A. and Dora T. (Nelson) Johnson. The family moved from Nebraska to a farm in the Moran area in 1925.
On Oct. 6, 1945, Warren married Myrtle G. Tharp and they farmed in the Moran area. He raised Hereford cattle and served on the Allen County Fair Board.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Myrtle G. Johnson; two nephews, Larry Johnson and wife Linda of Council Grove and Steven Johnson and wife Karen of Toledo, Ore.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Malvin Johnson, in 1950.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola, where the family will receive friends prior to the service. Burial will be in Moran Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the Allen County 4-H Council. Memorial gifts may be left with Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
