HUTCHINSON — Allen Community College’s women found themselves on the wrong side of history Saturday.
The visiting Red Devils saw little go right in either half of a 105-33 opening-round loss to third-ranked Hutchinson in the Region VI playoffs.
Ravaged by injuries and roster losses this season, ACC ends the year with a 7-23 record.
Hutch shot 65 percent from the field, out-rebounded Allen 42 to 23, forced 30 Red Devils turnovers and limited ACC to a cold 23 percent shooting.
The Blue Dragons took control early with an 18-1 run to lead 19-5. Hutchinson later held 15-0 and 12-1 runs to lead 54-14 by halftime.
The second half didn’t get any better. Hutch shot nearly 70 percent from the field after halftime, while ACC hit at a 20-percent clip.
Rebecca Fisher drained three 3-pointers to lead Allen with 13 points, while Kylie Molisee pulled down seven rebounds. O’ceonna Weston and Molisee, the team’s two leading scorers, combined to score just four points. Weston had two steals. Starting point guard Nicole Salazar scored seven.
Five Blue Dragon players scored in double figures, led by Jamie Patrick’s 17. Kalani Purcell followed with 15, Shakira Harding and Jen’Von’Ta Hill had 13 apiece and Briana Starks had 10.
Hutchinson advances to play Independence in Region VI quarterfinals action at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Wichita’s Koch Arena. Semifinals and finals are Friday and Saturday in Wichita.
