Five Allen County Community College athletes earned NJCAA All-America honors for their performances at last weekend’s 2010 NJCAA National Indoor Track and Field Championships.
The national track meet was hosted by Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Ill.
Sophomore Cameron Parker didn’t defend his national triple jump title but did place third in the event, earning All-America honors. Parker had a leap of 51 feet, 3 inches.
First-place distance was 52’1 3/4” and second place was 51’4 1/2”. Allen County’s Jarrett Criddle placed 13th in the triple jump at 46’ 1/2”.
Criddle, a sophomore, missed a top 10 finishing in the men’s long jump by two inches. He placed 11th at 22’ 3 1/2”.
Joining Parker in earning NJCAA Indoor All-America honors for the second year in a row were sophomores Angelica Larrier and Isiah Young.
Larrier finished fifth in the women’s 60-meter dash in 7.67 seconds in the finals. Larrier had broken the ACCC women’s indoor record running 7.61 seconds in the preliminaries.
Young captured sixth in men’s 60-meter dash in 6.79 seconds. Sophomore DeAndre Simmons and freshman Kyran Stewart ran in the 60-meter preliminaries at 6.95 and 6.83 seconds, respectively.
Sophomore Postena Louisjeune was a double All-American for Allen County at the 2010 national indoor meet. Louisjeune jumped a personal best in the high jump to capture second place.
Louisjeune’s clearance of 5’7” also set a new ACCC indoor high jump record.
Louisjeune and sophoore Keythra Richards placed in the top 10 of the long jump. Louisjeune earned All-America honors in placing fifth at 18’4 1/2”. Richards was eighth at 17’11 1/2”.
Richards made a strong finish to her indoor season after missing the first half of the season with an injury.
Richards claimed third place in the women’s triple jump at the national meet. Her leap of 38 feet earned her All-America honors. Freshman Rackell Goldson was 14th at 32’10 1/4”.
Larrier and freshman Amanda Smith competed in the 200-meter dash. Larrier posted a 26.30-second timing and Smith was 26.62 in the preliminaries. Smith ran 20th in the 400-meter dash in 1:03.31.
The women finished 12th overall in a field of 30 teams. The ACCC men took 17th as a team.
Stewart, D. Simmons and Young competed in the men’s 200-meter dash. They ran 22.12, 22.72 and 22.60 seconds, respectively, in the preliminaries.
