HUTCHINSON — Postenea Louisjeune capped her track career at Allen County Community College with a national runner-up spot in high jump at the 2010 NJCAA National Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The national meet was May 20-22 in Hutchinson.
Louisjeune earned the silver medal by clearing the high jump bar at 5 feet, 7 inches. She also earned second-team NJCAA All-America honors.
Louisjeuene finished ninth in the long jump event at 17’111⁄2”. Allen County sophomore teammate Keythra Richards placed 10th in the event at 17’103⁄4”.
Richards was not able to get a legal jump during the women’s triple jump.
Sophomore Angelica Larrier lowered her own ACCC 100-meter dash record. Larrier placed sixth in the 100 at the national meet in 11.78 seconds. Larrier also owns the ACCC 200-meter dash record.
Kyran Stewart, a freshman, posted a sixth-place finish in the 200-meter dash. Stewart ran the race in 21.24 seconds.
Sophomore Isiah Young, who has the ACCC 200-meter record, finished seventh in the 100 meters. He ran the race in 10.37 seconds.
Freshman Trent Huling, the Region VI/Jayhawk Eastern Division 400 meter champion, placed sixth in the 400 at nationals. He ran the distance in 48.41 seconds.
Sophomore Marwin Simmons was 14th in the long jump at 22’11” and sophomore Jarrett Criddle was 15th at 22’9”.
Sophomore Cameron Parker, who won the NJCAA indoor triple jump in 2009, finished 12th at the 2010 national outdoor meet. He had a leap of 47’111⁄4”, while Criddle was 24th at 42’103⁄4”.
Former Iola High standout Stephen Neuenswander, a sophomore at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, was 23rd in the triple jump. He had a leap of 43’7”.
Allen County’s 4×100-meter rely team did not finish the race.
