AMES, Iowa — Allen Community College freshman Michael Burns claimed third place in the triple jump Friday, highlighting the day’s results for ACC’s indoor track team at the Iowa State Open.
Burns leapt 46 feet, 3/4 inches on his third jump of the day.
The Iowa State Open featured athletes from two- and four-year colleges from across the country.
The Red Devils’ Chris Donald, a sophomore, took home sixth place overall in the 400-meter dash, with a time of 49.18 seconds.
Allen’s Jethro St. Hubert also brought home a top-10 finish by claiming seventh in the long jump. St. Hubert traveled 21’11” on his first leap of the day. He was followed by Burns in 25th at 20’10”.
Rickcardo Kelley, a freshman, nabbed 10th overall in the 600-yard run, covering the distance in 1 minute, 13.15 seconds.
Tegan Michael brought home 12th in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:57.96.
The Red Devils’ distance medley relay team of Tucker Morgan, Rickcardo Bailey, Evan Adams and Tegan Michael claimed 11th with a time of 10:33.77. The legs in a distance medley go from a 1200-meter leg, a 400-meter leg, an 800-meter leg and a 1600-meter leg, or 5,000 meters in all — nearly three miles.
