The Humboldt Cubs won two of three matches in Thursday’s dual against Tri-Valley League rival Fredonia.
Hot off taking third at the Burlington Invitational, junior Broc Ivy, 157 lbs., (10-4) kept his hot streak going with a 10-6 decision over Fredonia senior Noah Howard (14-6).
Emmitt Carson (6-4) won a 17-15 decision over Fredonia junior Austin Beard (7-7). Freshman Bentley Kolb, 215 lbs., (1-3) fell to Fredonia senior Ryan Reid (7-27) by first-period pin. Due to multiple vacant weight classes, Fredonia won the dual 36-6.
In girls’ action, the Lady Cubs fell 36-24. Sophomore Willow LaCrone, 170 lbs., represented Humboldt’s only victory in head-to-head action. Junior Ella Shomaker, 125 lbs., fell by first-period pin, junior Hope Thompson, 130 lbs., fell by second-period pin. Freshman Brylee Napier, 140 lbs., fell by second-period pin and senior Taevyn Baylor, 145 lbs., fell by third-period pin.
The Cubs return to the mat Tuesday on the road for a dual at Bluestem.
