UNIONTOWN—The night didn’t go as planned for Marmaton Valley High’s Wildcats, evident in the whipping Uniontown High’s Eagles put on them. Doubling up on the competition, Uniontown downed the Wildcats 46-23 Friday night for the home win.
In a game they never led in, the Wildcats found themselves down right off the bat, and as the game went on, the deficit got deeper.
The Eagles outscored Marmaton Valley 15-8 in the opening period and 15-5 in the second. It didn’t get any easier for the Wildcat in the second half either. Uniontown held their opponent to just 10 second-half points and held on for the 23-point victory.
Leading all scorers was Uniontown’s Zach Travis with 15 points — nine coming from behind the arc. Teammate Brenton Esslinger added 10 points of his own.
Standouts for the Wildcats were Zach Louk with seven points and three rebounds and Derrick Carr with five points.
