Iola High’s junior varsity softball team dropped both games of a home doubleheader against Independence Thursday, falling 11-7 and 16-1.
Taylor Sell had a fifth-inning triple, Baylea Thompson smacked a double, and Riley Murry, Emily McKarnin, Lexi Heslop and Torrie Lewis had singles in the opener.
Thompson took the loss. She gave up 10 hits with three strikeouts.
Thompson had the Fillies’ only hit in the second game, a single.
The Fillies resume play Tuesday at home against Prairie View.
