HMS teams struggle

Despite solid efforts, all five Humboldt Middle School basketball teams lost at home versus Erie on Thursday.

The seventh-grade boys lost 46-32. Sam Hull had 19 points and nine rebounds followed by eight for Bradley Lowry, two points and five steals for Caden Vink, two points for Stephen Leo and a point for Garren Goodner.

The eighth-grade boys fell 47-31.

Aiden Gean led the way with 14 points followed by eight points and five assists for Maddox Johnson, four points and three rebounds for Trey Sommer, three points and four rebounds for Brennen Nuessen and two points for Robbie Myers.

“I was pleased with our effort all game long,” head coach Jeremy Weilert said. “We still aren’t quite where we need to be, but we are working hard to get there.”

The girls A-Team lost in a close one 20-16.

Kenisyn Hottenstein had six points and seven steals, Elizabeth White had four points and Emily Ross had seven rebounds.

“The ladies played very well on the defensive end but had trouble scoring tonight,” head coach Jason Weilert said. “We were only able to make 2 baskets during the game but had many opportunities to score. We will continue working to improve before our next game.”

The B-Team lost 26-15.

Morgan Hunter had four points and Heidi Walker had three points.

The C-Team wrapped things up with a 9-8 loss in their two-quarter game. Meeka Harris had four points.

Semester action ends Monday at Fredonia.
