Humboldt has record-setting day in Neodesha

Humboldt Middle School athletes returned home with more than just medals after making history Monday in Neodesha.

Multiple Humboldt Middle School athletes set school records while competing in Monday’s Neodesha Junior High School Invitational.

Humboldt eighth-grader Christian Mataka posted a new record for the fastest 200-meter dash with a 26.44 second run. He also contributed to the Cubs breaking the school record in the 4×200-meter relay with a 1:52.9 run, along with teammates Tate Thomas, Jase Russell and Deegan Magenity. The eighth-grade Lady Cubs, including Juliana Thomas, Brilee  Bruce, Kinsley Isbell and Hadlee Allen broke the school record for the fastest medley relay record. Eighth-grader Tate Thomas tied the record in the high jump.
