CHERRYVALE — Humboldt notched two more wins on the season after defeating Cherryvale and Altoona on the road Tuesday night.
In Humboldt’s first matchup of the night against Altoona, the Cubs dominated from start to finish. Coach Cara Thomas’ squad swept the Jets in two straight sets (25-2, 25-9).
The Cubs recorded a team hitting percentage of .345 en route to their first victory of the night.
Annalise Whitcomb and Tilar Wells led the way for Humboldt offensively with five and four kills, respectively.
Megan Hudlin added seven service aces in the game to help Humboldt put away Altoona for the easy win.
At one point, Hudlin’s service behind the line was so efficient that she was able to serve 25 times in a row.
In the second matchup of the night, Humboldt also defeated Cherryvale in just two sets (25-18, 25-17).
Once again, Whitcomb and Wells were the Cubs offensive leaders by recording five and four kills, respectively.
Aricah McCall found a way in the action as well for Humboldt, notching four kills of her own.
Humboldt’s varsity team will take the court next on its own court on Saturday.
The Cubs’ JV and C teams also competed Tuesday in Cherryvale.
The C team lost to Cherryvale in three sets (25-22, 18-25, 5-15).
But the JV team found redemption for Humboldt by defeating Cherryvale in three sets (25-21, 25-27, 15-6).
“JV brought great energy again,” said Aubrey Jones, the Humboldt JV coach. “They work really hard to pick each other up and celebrate any small victories on the court.
