On Wednesday, the Iola Middle School golf team kicked off its season with its annual meet at Cedarbrook Golf Course.
Teams from Parsons, Pittsburg, Anderson County, Jayhawk-Linn, Independence, Coffeyville and Chanute joined the Ponies for a 58-member field.
Seventh-graders Chris Holloway and Xander Sellman put up top-10 performances. Holloway shot a 49, which was good for fifth, and Sellman shot a 52, which was good for ninth.
Other Ponies included Carson Keller, who shot a 61, Travis Wanker, who shot a 64, Kendall Glaze, who shot a 67, Brigham Folk, who shot a 70, Jack White, who shot a 60, and Brandon McKarnin, who shot a 58.
The Ponies will travel to Pittsburg today for its middle school invitational.
