MOUND CITY — Iola Middle School’s golf team continued winning Monday. The Ponies put together a team score of 168 to win the Jayhawk-Linn Jr. High Invitational.
Iola won the nine-hole event at Sugar Valley Golf Course. Parsons was second at 175 followed by Independence at 178. There were eight teams in the tournament.
“Individually we struggled a little with our putting Monday. Our scores were good but we really could have had a better showing with a little better putting,” said Dennis Nevin, IMS golf coach.
Kaden Macha led the Ponies with a 39, which was good for fourth place. Spencer Walter of Adnerson County won the individual top honors with a round of 35.
Shane Walden shot a 42 for the seventh-place medal. The 10th-place medal went to Adam Peterson with a 43.
Weston Hines carded a 44 and Isaiah Grover had a 45. Matt Jacobs shot a 53.
Iola travels to Garnett Wednesday for the Anderson County Junior High Invitational.
