HUMBOLDT — Crest High’s Lady Lancers and Lancers had different outcomes in their opening round games of the Humboldt High preseason tournament Tuesday.
The Crest girls got bounced by Erie 48-24. Crest’s boys won “ an ugly” game with the Red Devil boys 37-28.
Erie limited the Lady Lancers to just two points in the first quarter, leading 25-13 at halftime.
Ashley Catt and Kolbie Gilliland each has seven points for Crest. Kurston Gilliland added six and Katrina Strickler had four points.
Katie Brungardt had 14 points and Christian Cornett had 10.
“Proud of the way our guys gutted it out,” said Travis Hermreck, Crest boys’ coach. The Lancers led 30-28 after three quarters.
Kyle Hammond scored 16 and Dexter Wiley had 11 for the Crest. Scoring three points each were Chris Brallier and Jayden Bowen. Luke Decker and Dakota Ramsey each had two points.
The Crest teams face tournament host teams, Humboldt, Thursday.
