LIBERAL, Mo. — Crest High’s boys basketball stormed back in the fourth quarter on Friday to get a hard fought 47-44 win against Golden City, Mo. The Lancers finished the Tony Dubray Tournament 1-2 and in seventh place.
“We were down nine with 2:38 left in the game,” coach Travis Hermreck said. “ I’m not exactly sure why, but suddenly all the bounces and breaks started going our way.”
The Lancers were down 35-29 entering the fourth quarter. Crest then went on to double Golden City’s scoring in the fourth quarter 18-9 to get the win.
Hunter Frazell scored and Austin Green sparked the scoring output with seven points each in the final period of play. Green finished with a team-high 16 points and Frazell ended the night with 11.
“We had to work hard to get a win this week, but three games against quality opponents will do more for us in the long run,” Hermreck said.
Crest hosts Uniontown for its homecoming game this Friday.
“We improved this week. I was pleased with our transition game and half-court defense,” Hermreck said. “Hopefully we can continue to get better through this next month, our schedule is challenging from here out.”
