Local bowlers support charity for veterans

Bowlers at Country Lanes Bowling Alley donated $133 to “Brightening Veterans’ Lives” and across Kansas more than $14,000 was raised to support the cause which supplies services and materials to Veterans Administration hospitals across the country.
Three of those hospitals are located in Kansas — Topeka, Leavenworth and Wichita.
Lapel pins were awarded to the winners in each division. Iola winners were: Tyler Newland (men), Erica Hunt (women), Kyle Cuppy (junior majors boys), Emily Lawrence (junior majors girls), Lee Summers (bantam/prep boys) and Blayke Patterson (junior majors girls).
Newland was the biggest winner as he took first-place in the state for his division and earned a medal.
