ST. PAUL — Marmaton Valley High’s girls got off to a slow start Tuesday.
Their hosts from St. Paul had no such troubles.
St. Paul led 13-4 after one quarter and 30-12 by halftime of their 55-27 win.
The loss drops Marmaton Valley’s record to 4-4.
The Wildcats will get an unusual do-over next week to start the Southeast Lancer Classic in Cherokee.
St. Paul is the overall top seed and Marmaton Valley the fifth seed.
The schools will play again at 5:30 p.m. Monday to open play in Pool A.
The Wildcats will hope to up their offensive output from this week’s affair.
St. Paul upped its lead to 43-19 after three quarters and closed the game with a 12-8 run.
Kailey Boyd paced Marmaton Valley with 12 points. Kaitlin Ensminger followed with six.
The Wildcats struggled from the line, hitting 5 of 19 charities. St. Paul was aided by five 3-pointers and went 10 of 16 from the line.
Ashton Wood scored 13 to lead the Indians.
