Mat Warriors wrestle in two tournaments

The Allen County Kids Wrestling Club’s Mat Warriors have competed in two tournaments the past two Sundays to open the 2011 Kansas Kids Wrestling season.
On Jan. 3 the Mat Warriors were at the Pittsburg Kids Wrestling Club’s tournament at Pittsburg High School. Six young wrestlers were involved in six weight classes in four age divisions.
T.J. Taylor placed second in the 6-and-Under 46-pound bracket. He went 3-1. Thomas Young was fourth in the 6-and-Under 52-pound class.
Michael Young placed second in the 8-and-Under heavyweight division with a 2-1 mark. Also placing second was Seth Sanford in the 12-and-Under 175-pound division.
Chad Classen finished third in the 10-and-Under 82-85-pound division. O’della Lohman took third in the 12-and-Under 105-pound division.
This past Sunday, the Mat Warriors were at the Bonner Springs Kids Wrestling Club’s novice tournament.
Jeremy Ridge won all three of his matches to capture first place in the 8-and-Under 70-pound bracket. Taylor was second at 2-1 in the 6-and-Under 46-pound division.
In 10-and-Under, Josh Wise was 2-1 for second place at 75 pounds and Classen placed second, going 1-1, at 85 pounds.
In 12-and-Under, Lohman had three matches and she was fourth in the 115-pound class. Sanford placed second in the heavyweight class.
Allen County Kids Wrestling Club’s wrestlers are set to compete at Burlington this Sunday.
