Iola High’s junior varsity baseball team recorded two wins Thursday at home against Burlington.
The Mustangs scored nine runs in the second inning to win 10-0 in the opener. Trent Latta pitched three innings of no-hit, scoreless baseball and had four strikeouts. Shae Beasley allowed one hit, walked on and struck out a batter in one inning of work.
Eric Heffern hit a single and a double for Iola. Beasley had two base hits. Derrick Weir doubled. Hitting a single each were T. Latta, Tyler Clubine, Cole Morrison and Austin Snyder.
Iola broke a 3-3 tie with seven runs in the bottom of the fourth on its way to a 10-3 win in the second contest. Clubine and Morrison combined on the mound for the Mustangs.
Weir and Alex Bauer each had a single and a double. Drew Faulhaber hit two singles. Hitting a single each were E. Heffern, T. Latta, Thealvin Minor, Clubine, Kohl Endicott and Brock Peters.
