Mustangs medal at Chanute Inv.

The Iola Mustangs continue building momentum more than a month away from the postseason.

CHANUTE — The Iola Mustangs returned from the Chanute Invitational with a few medals Thursday. 

Sophomore Mosiah Fawson took third in No. 1 singles while No. 1 doubles senior tandem Ruger Boren and Brodie Thompson took third. 

Fawson took third after opening the tournament with a loss to eventual runner up Alan Mah of Independence 8-1. He rebounded with an 8-1 victory over Roberts 8-0 for third place. 

In doubles action, Boren and Thompson also took third after opening with an 8-1 loss to Matt McLenon and Brodie Small of Independence. They broke into the consolation finals with an 8-2 victory over Chanute’s tandem of Kemper Manly and Ayden Cummings. then defeated another Indy team in Quinlan Boyer and Caven Jabben 8-7 for third place.
