UNIONTOWN — Marmaton Valley High athletes contended with some tough competition and a tougher west wind Monday.
Even so, the Wildcats brought in several top finishes, including three gold medals in the process.
Both the boys and girls teams took third in their respective divisions, head coach Russell Plaschka said.
‘We had several personal record performances that were rewarded with medals,” he said.
The Wildcats earned two gold medals on the day, Brady Newman’s in the high jump and Casey Allen’s in the 3200-meter run. Newman also finished fourth in the long jump and sixth in the javelin.
Elsewhere on the boys’ side, Trent Johnson took second in shot put, third in javelin and fourth in the discus.
Wyatt Bolinger finished second in the javelin and 800 meters and sixth in the 3200.
Garrett Booth finished third in the 400 meters, fifth in the 200 meters and sixth in the 100 meters.

CASEY ALLEN added a fifth-place finish in the 800 meters to her 3200 gold.
Meanwhile, Misty Storrer finished third in the 400 and 200 and fourth in the triple jump. Kyla Drake took third in the triple jump and fourth in the 200. Stevie Allen took fourth in the 1600 meters and sixth in the 3200. Magie Stevenson chipped in with a fifth-place finish in the 100 and sixth in the long jump.
