PLEASANTON — Marmaton Valley Junior High’s volleyball and football teams came home victorious Thursday from a triumphant visit to Pleasanton.
The volleyball team picked up wins in the A-, B- and C-team contests.
The A-team swept Pleasanton, 25-16, 25-14, while the B won, 25-13, 25-10, and the C-team won its only set, 25-2.
The A-team was led by Megan Ensminger with seven points, Clara Boyd with six and Trinitee Gutierrez with five.
“Megan and the twins (Shayla and MaKayla Brooks) really did a nice job on the court and Megan and Trinitee were very effective at setting each other up all night,” Marmaton Valley head coach Brenda Mills said. “I’d like to talk about everybody on the team, because it was a nice team effort.”
Patricia Outlan paced the B-team with eight points, followed by Emily Smart with seven and Shelby Yoho with six.
Only two Wildcats scored points in the C-team game; only two were needed.
Sarah Spillman racked up 15 points and Lana Myers five.

THE WILDCAT football squad also took home a 40-22 victory. No statistics were available.
Head coach Dan Uhlrich said the Wildcats did a nice job offensively, but struggled at times on defense.
“Much improvement can be made,” he said.
Marmaton Valley hosts Jayhawk-Linn next Thursday.
