LE ROY — Marmaton Valley and Southern Coffey County ended their season on Thursday with a 68-22 Wildcat win. The game ended midway through the third quarter after a Wildcat touchdown put the point spread at 46 points.
“This was a great way to send out our seniors,” Marmaton Valley head coach Gavin Cole said. “They’ve put a lot into this program and have left their mark on it. We will definitely miss their leadership and love for the game. They helped us elevate our program to a level where success should be maintained and expectations continually raised.”
The Wildcats end their season at 6-3 while the Titans end their season under first-year head coach Todd Griffin with a 2-7 mark.
The Wildcats focused their attack primarily on the ground. Trevor Wilson led the Wildcats with 22 carries for 197 yards and four touchdowns.
Senior quarterback Justice Pugh went 1 of 6 passing for 3 yards along with 12 carries for 44 yards and a touchdown.
Caiden Elliott had five carries for 38 yards and a touchdown while Will Holeman had one carry for two yards and a touchdown.
The Wildcats had 285 yards rushing in the game and scored on the ground in seven of their nine touchdowns.
Wilson added two more non-offensive scores on a kickoff return and a pick-six. Pugh also had an interception.
For Southern Coffey County, their offensive attack was almost the complete opposite. The Titans picked up the majority of their yards through the air and ran sparingly.
Jett Harvey completed eight passes for 119 yards and Luke Gillis completed one for 45 yards. Dawson Leimkuhler had all nine of the Titans receptions for 164 yards. Gillis ran for eight yards on eight carries while Harvey ran for two yards on one carry.
Cooper Harred had 10 tackles to lead the way for Southern Coffey County’s defense; Leimkuhler had nine. Harvey registered 3½ tackles and an interception.
