UNIONTOWN — Marmaton Valley Junior High’s girls basketball teams swept three games at Uniontown Monday, while the Wildcat boys went 1-1. MARMATON Valley’s boys A team came up short, dropping a 38-32 decision.
The Wildcat girls A team won its second straight game to open the 2013 season, defeating the Eagles, 22-14.
Trinitee Gutierrez led the way with 12 points, followed by Shayla Brooks with eight and Makayla Brooks with two.
The MV girls B team also prevailed, 24-11.
Kaitlyn Knavel led the balanced scoring attack with six points. Paige Becker followed with five, Shailee Woods and and Karlie Stephens with four apiece, Emily Smart with three and Sarah Spillman with two.
Marmaton Valley’s C team won 6-0 in a one-quarter game. Lana Myers, Kaitlyn Beggs and Woods each had a basket for the Wildcats.
Trevor Wilson’s 11 points led the Wildcats. Justice Pugh followed with eight. Tristan Fraker scored five and Brock Hall and Korbin Smith had four apiece.
Marmaton Valley’s B team boys rolled to a 37-17 win.
Caiden Elliott poured in a game-high 19 points to pace the victors. Gage Griffith added nine and Isaac Heskett seven. Trent Vest scored two.
