The buckets weren’t falling for the Lady Titans Friday night as they fell at home to Hartford 34-18.
With the win, Southern Coffey County is now 4-5 this season after the loss.
The Jaguars shot out to an early 10-2 lead after the first quarter that was extended to 12 by halftime.
“In the first half I thought it was a pretty even game except for the fact that we gave them some second and third shots,” Southern Coffey County head coach Jeff True said. “If we had limited them to just one shot then it’s an even game at the half.”
The Lady Titans defense picked up in the second half, limiting the Jaguars to 14 points.
Tuesday marked the second game that Southern Coffey County has been without senior Erika Lyons, who  will be out for the rest of the season due to a torn ACL and meniscus. Lyons was the second-leading scorer returning for the Lady Titans and was a big part of their four wins this season.
“We’re still adjusting being without (Lyons),” True said. “Offensively she accounted for 15-17 points a game. So right now we’re still struggling and trying to figure out where we’re going to find those points.
With Lyons out of the picture, SCC has been looking to a lot of their younger players to step up and play bigger minutes. Getting those players up to speed to the point where they’re adequately replacing Lyons production is still an ongoing process.
“When she was here we were scoring close to 50 points,” True said. “Without her, we haven’t been able to figure out our offense. But like I told them in the locker room after the game, she’s not coming back so we need to figure out how to go on without her. And they will.”
Senior Danielle Kasprzak was the lone double-figure scorer for the Lady Titans, putting up 10 points in the defeat.
The Lady Titans will be back in action on Friday when they’ll travel to Madison.
“We just have to work to continue to get better on both ends of the floor,” True said.
