LYNDON — A trio of school records went by the wayside Friday as Southern Coffey County High’s track team opened its 2014 season.
The Titans’ Aaron True took home a school record in winning the javelin, Walker Harred the discus and Josiah Witteman the high jump at the Marais des Cygnes Invitational.
True’s throw covered 192 feet, 7 inches, while Harred’s discus toss went 154’7”. Witteman cleared 6’2” in the high jump.
With those marks in tow, Southern Coffey County’s boys took fourth overall in the eight-team event with 66 points. Lyndon was tops at 154 points, followed by West Franklin with 73 and Marais des Cygnes Valley with 70.
On the girls’ side, Breanna Isch took silver in the shot put with a throw of 30’ 1/2”, Connie Lyda took bronze in the javelin at 90’3” and Chenae Newkirk took third in the 800-meter run at 2 minutes, 42.72 seconds.
The Lady Titans finished in sixth with 32 points. Waverly’s girls won the team trophy with 149 points, followed by Marais des Cygnes Valley with 133.5.
