Tigers too much for Cubs

LYNDON — Nick Walsh led Lyndon High’s Tigers to a 66-0 win at home over Humboldt High’s Cubs.
Walsh had four touchdowns in the game. The Tigers led 47-0 at halftime.
“They physicially dominated us in every phase of the game. They are big and fast and we don’t match p with them,” said Mike Miller, Cub head coach.
The Cubs (0-6) is in the toughest Kansas Class 2-1A district in the state.  Lyndon is 5-1 overall and 1-1 in District 1.
It doesn’t get any easier for Humboldt next Friday. Top-ranked Pittsburg St. Mary’s-Colgan comes to Humboldt. Four of the top 10 teams in the state are in the district.
“We just have to keep plugging away and getting better each week,” Miller said.
The Tigers had 595 yards of total offense, which included 466 rushing yards.
Humboldt had 49 yards rushing and 61 yards passing.
Hayden Boring led the Cubs’ ground attack with 31 yards on 12 carries. Jock Wilson was three carries for seven yards and Derrik McCall had eight yards on 11 carries.
McCall was 6 of 17 passing for 61 yards. Blake Crawford had one catch for 28 yards. Jarred Barr made three receptions for 20 yards and Caleb Vanatta made two catches for 14 yards.
McCall recorded seven tackles and a fumble recovery. Seth Nickell had five tackles.
