Top girls’ vaulter in 3A is Williamson granddaughter

Heading into the 2012 Kansas High School All-Class Track and Field Championships, Bailey Ambrosier, granddaughter of Sid and Alice Williamson of Gas, is ranked No. 1 in Kansas Class 3A girls’ pole vault.

Ambrosier is a sophomore at Norton Community High School. She won the Class 3A regional pole vault title Friday in Beloit, going 10 feet. She has the best vault among Class 3A state meet competitors.

The state meet is this Friday and Saturday in Wichita. Ambrosier competes in 3A at 3 p.m. Friday.

Ambrosier won the Mid-Continent League pole vault championship on May 11 at the league meet in WaKeeney. She won it with a vault of 9 feet, 6 inches. 

Ambrosier also ran on the MCL winning 4×800-meter relay. She helped Norton’s girls win the MCL team championship.

Ambrosier is the daughter of 1988 Iola High graduate Diana (Williamson) and Wade Ambrosier of Norton.
