COLONY — The Crest Lancers boys basketball team has shown tremendous growth throughout this season with a brand new starting five from a year before and have positioned themselves to have a two-seed in their upcoming sub-state bracket.
On Tuesday, they were reminded of the strides they still have to make to be among the elite teams in the state.
Kansas’ No. 6 ranked 1A-I team, the Lebo Wolves, pounced on the young Lancer squad early and ran out to a 20-5 first quarter lead. The Wolves eventually were able to pick up a 67-39 victory.
“We couldn’t make a shot, plus we were playing one of the better teams in the state,” Crest coach Travis Hermreck said. “Put it all together and it was a tough night.”
