Three Allen Community College volleyball players earned postseason honors for their work this season, the most successful for the Red Devils in years.
Allen sophomore Sidney Keith was named to first team All Region VI, District N postseason team. Sophomore Sarah Charbonneau and freshman Lizzy Huey were named to the second team.
Keith, a 5-11 sophomore out of St. Joseph, Mo., racked up plenty of impressive statistics to lead the Red Devils, which wound up with a 23-15 record.
As Allen’s primary outside hitter, Keith led Allen with 515 kills, more than 3.5 per set, with a .240 kill percentage. She was second on the team with 548 digs — 3.75 per set — and second in blocks with 78. Her 588 points were a team high. Keith also had 25 assists and 23 serve aces.
Huey, a 6-foot middle hitter out of Kansas City, Kan., also became a team leader by season’s end.
Her 265 kills ranked third on the squad, while she rang up 151 blocks, including 57 solos, both team highs. Huey’s 388 points put her second on the team. She also had 103 digs and 19 service aces.
As Allen’s defensive specialist, Charbonneau, a 5-3 sophomore out of Corpus Christi, Texas, made her living on the back row. She had 922 digs, nearly as many as the next two Red Devils combined. She also had 87 assists and 27 service aces.
Allen’s season ended Nov. 9 with a loss to Johnson County in the NJCAA Division II district tournament. Johnson County has advanced to the national semifinals, which begin Thursday.
