Wildcats avenge loss in senior night battle

The Marmaton Valley Wildcats snapped a three-game losing streak after defeating St. Paul 47-42 Friday.

MORAN — Marmaton Valley High seniors Tyler Lord and Garrett Morrison celebrated Senior Night in style Friday.

Lord scored 13 and Morrison 10 as the Wildcats withstood a late St. Paul rally to snap a three-game losing streak with a 47-42 win.

Marmaton Valley (8-10) took a 12-7 lead after one quarter and stretched it to 22-14 at the break. The Wildcats still led 38-29 before St. Paul caught fire from 3-point range in the fourth quarter.

The Indians hit three of their eight 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to threaten the lea, but Morrison scored four and Lord hit 3 of 4 free throws to seal the win.

Kaden McVey added six and Todd Steven five for the Wildcats.

Brec Norris led St. Paul with 17. Benson Aday was next with 14.

Marmaton Valley’s boys brought home a 26-19 win in a two-quarter junior varsity contest. Thomas Allee led the Wildcat JV with 11. Lane Lord and Kris McVey each scored seven. Kaden McVey had a free throw.

IN GIRLS play, Brittany Deegan scored 12 points and Ava Dent had 10 as the Indians prevailed with a 48-19 win.

Marmaton Valley (2-16) was led by Emma Louk with eight and Andie Carr with five.

Marmaton Valley wraps up the regular season with four straight road tilts, beginning Tuesday at Oswego.
