The Marmaton Valley Wildcats extended their win streak to five games after sweeping the St. Paul Indians 7-3 and 13-0 Tuesday.

Freshman Lane Lord picked up the win in the finale after coming just one hit and one walk short of a perfect game while senior pitcher Garrett Morrison saved the day in the opener as the Wildcats improved their record to 9-3 overall and 9-3 in the Three Rivers League.

A three-run second inning made the difference in the opener after Morrison gave Marmaton Valley a 1-0 lead in the opening frame.

After the Wildcats scored on an error in the second inning, senior first baseman Todd Stevenson tripled and senior outfielder Ty Lord had a two-out RBI single, pushing the Wildcats’ lead to 4-1.

Morrison scored on a passed ball in the seventh, then freshman shortstop Thomas Allee scored in the same fashion moments later. Morrison had a team-leading two hits and tied Ty Lord for the team lead in RBIs with one each.

Lane Lord tallied 10 strikeouts over five innings in the nightcap.

The Wildcats bats also came alive. Tyler Lord and Stevenson had three RBIs each. Morrison, and McVey had two RBIs each.

The Wildcats are on the road Friday against the Riverton Rams.
