The Yates Center Wildcats continue playing for their first win after suffering a 14-3 and 6-4 sweep by the Oswego Indians Monday night.

Yates Center’s three runs in the fifth inning were short of the mark after Oswego jumped out to a 13-0 lead by the third inning.

Junior third baseman Mylin Tidd and senior outfielder Madison Hall accounted for the Wildcats only RBIs of the opener.

Tidd and Hall also tied for the team lead in hits with two each. On the mound, senior Kinley Morrison took the loss with five strikeouts over two innings, allowing eight walks, and 11 runs on three hits.

The Wildcats were much more formidable in the finale but could not score in their final at-bat, letting Oswego walk away with the victory.

Despite a strong effort from junior starter Cayten Cummings, who tallied nine strikeouts over six innings, Yates Center’s run support fell just short of earning Cummings her first win of 2026.

Morrison accounted for all but one of Yates Center’s four RBIs with the other going to senior second baseman Anna Marando. Morrison also had a team-leading two hits.

With the losses, the Wildcats’ record stands at 0-4. They look to get in the win column Thursday when they host the 2-2 Crest Lady Lancers. First pitch for the TRL doubleheader is at 4:30 p.m.
