FORT SCOTT — Yates Center High School sent MaKayla Jones to the regional golf tournament hosted by Uniontown over the weekend.
After finishing with a total score of 145 to finish in 20th place overall, Jones just missed out on qualifying for the state golf tournament by two strokes.
Jones shot a 67 through the front nine but struggled down the stretch, shooting a 78 on the last nine holes.
Reagan Boone of Eureka had the best individual score of the tournament with a 90.
Caney Valley High won the team championship after shooting an overall score of 383. With the victory, Caney Valley qualifies for state.
Eureka and Fredonia will play at state too.
