YC’s Collins tosses three innings of perfection

Included in Tuesday's dominating doubleheader sweep of St. Paul was Morgan Collins's three-inning perfect game for Yates Center's softball team. The victories lift the Wildcats to 13-1 on the season.

ST. PAUL — Yates Center High’s softball team wasted little time in improving to 13-1 Tuesday, blasting St. Paul 24-0 and 20-5 to sweep their doubleheader.

Morgan Collins led the way in the first game, allowing nary a baserunner in her three-inning perfect game. She struck out six of the nine St. Paul batters she faced.

Collins also had two hits, as did Molly Proper, Emma Grogg, Grace Westerman and Izzy Lewis. Callyn Miller, Anna Westerman and Peyton Petit each added a hit.

Miller, Grogg and Grace Westerman had three RBIs apiece.

Molly Proper pitched three innings in the second game, striking out six and allowing one earned run.

Miller had three hits and four RBIs. Hannah Jones also had three hits.

Allie Chrisman had two hits and four RBIs, while Proper had two hits, including a home run. Collins drove in four with one hit, and Grogg, Grace Westerman, Addie Solander and Anna Westerman chipped in with hits.
