Elks donate food

Iola Elks Lodge No. 569 distributed 100 bags stocked full of non-perishable food items to area school districts this week, just in time for spring break. The items were purchased thanks to a $6,000 grant from the Elks National Foundation. Elks member Becky Anderson wrote the grant and organized the project, which also included a distribution in December before the Christmas holiday break. Bags were delivered to Iola, Humboldt, Marmaton Valley, Crest, Yates Center and Southern Coffey County schools.
