Iola High School’s forensics team has had a successful start to its 2026 competitive speaking and drama season.
An Iola contingent took second place as a team Saturday at a competition in Independence.
Individually, Logan Belknap took home first place in oral interpretation of prose, and teamed with Callie Sterling to take first place in duet acting.
Other top finishers:
— Callie Sterling second, Bella Rahming third and Evie Schooler sixth in oral interpretation of poetry.
— Bella Rahming, sixth in program of oral interpretation.
— Cameron Palmer, sixth in humorous solo acting.
— Evie Schooler, sixth in serious solo acting.
— Teagan Noyes and Jeffrey Ashworth, second in duet acting.
— Aaliyah Rhodes and Chloe Sinclair, fourth in duo interpretation.
— Bethany Miller, fourth in informative speaking.

IOLA also took second in the team standings at Frontenac Feb. 7.
There, Sterling and Belknap took top honors in duet acting, while Lily Lohman and Rahming placed first in improvised duet acting.

— Sterling, third in oral interpretation of poetry.
